From day one, Greenlight established the principle that quality is the first element of programming which must be beyond question, and we have rigorously followed that policy in all everyday activities. Greenlight adopted the Digi-Beta format as soon as it was available, and applied it to image-gathering and editing wherever possible. It remains our default equipment as we wait for the minefield of conflicting HD formats to resolve into an industry standard, though we have put in place some Sony HD equipment, and we're in our third season of live HD broadcasts of the FIA GT Championship (now the GT1 World Championship) from locations across Europe, and completed all the highlights packages from the Championship in HD. At its purpose-built Isle of Man headquarters, Greenlight's 22 staff work with three fully-equipped tape-based, three-machine Digi-Beta edit suites with HD capability in each. There's Aston capgen in all three, plus a separate graphics suite, as well as four non-linear suites, including Final Cut Pro HD, and our crews and editors can work on all formats and we offer standards conversion between PAL, NTSC and SECAM. There is also a separate sound recording studio for voiceover. In keeping with its original philosophy, Greenlight Television has quickly embraced all new media formats as soon as they become professionally viable, and now offers HD, DVD authoring and duplication, as well as internet streaming services. Programme delivery via the internet (at full broadcast quality) has already begun, and is now our standard method of delivery for customers who can accept it, using our own specially-developed software system for archiving and download.
